Friends of the Library
Who Are We?
The Friends of the Library was organized in 1967 to serve as a link between the library and the community. The Friends enhance the services that the library provides to the public. We underwrite special children’s programs and the ever popular Chair Yoga program for adults. We also sponsor subscriptions to Wowbrary, BookPage, and circulating museum passes among other programs.
Membership dues make up part of our treasury, but our jewelry sales and children’s book sale are our most important fundraisers. The Friends also maintain an ongoing sale of books and magazines in the library lobby. All of our fundraising efforts go towards supporting the library.
The Friends of the Springfield Library accept donations of Children’s and Young Adult hardcover and paperback books year-round. Adult paperback and recent adult hardcover books, jewelry, puzzles, and popular magazines (last 3 months only) may also be donated year-round. Donations should be brought to the Circulation Desk during regular business hours.
All donations should be clean and in good to excellent condition. Poor condition books, CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes, textbooks, and encyclopedias will not be accepted. Please DO NOT put donations in the library book drops. For patrons’ convenience, a Book Drop donation bin is located at the Springfield Pool.
