Artist Reception: Anita Gladstone
Sunday, December 22, 2019, 01:30pm - 03:30pm

The Donald B. Palmer Museum of the Springfield Free Public Library will exhibit the pastel paintings of Springfield resident Anita Gladstone during the month of December. An artist’s reception will be held Sunday, December 22 from 1:30pm–3:30pm.

Ms. Gladstone’s paintings have been included in group exhibitions in New Jersey, New York City, Cape Cod, and Chicago, including at such venues as the Monmouth Museum in Lincroft, New Jersey and The Salmagundi Club and The National Arts Club, both in New York City.

Ms. Gladstone graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a B.F.A. in painting, but became fascinated with working in clay shortly thereafter. After about 20 years making pottery, the artist returned to her roots and began painting again, this time with pastels. She finds the spontaneity of the medium, which is almost pure pigment and with wonderfully vibrant colors, to be an exciting way to express her interest in the beauty of landscapes.

Ms. Gladstone is a signature member and board member of the Pastel Society of NJ, a juried associate member of The Pastel Society of America, and an elected member of the American Artists Professional League. She is also a member of Studio Montclair and an associate member of Allied Artists of America and the Catherine Lorillard Wolf Art Club.
