The children’s room will be closed Thursday, January 23 and Friday, January 24 for the installation of new signs and decorative artwork. Programs for children and teens that have been scheduled for those dates will not be cancelled. Children below high school age who are not accompanied by a responsible adult cannot be accommodated in the adult services department during the two days. Parents should make other arrangements for children who are accustomed to coming to the library during after school hours.

Volunteering

The Teen Librarian is accepting volunteer applications for 2020.

Teens ages 14+ are eligible to volunteer at the Springfield Free Public Library. Volunteers are expected to plan, assist, and/or lead public programs for teens and/or children. At the start of 2020, shelving opportunities will be available to prospective volunteers and will require applicants to complete a shelving assessment. Those interested in volunteering for the library can pick up a volunteer application from the Youth Services Department, in-person.

Please understand that volunteer positions are limited and that the library cannot accommodate everyone seeking community service hours.
