Veteran sports broadcaster Evan Weiner will present a lecture on the culture of the Super Bowl at the Springfield Public Library on Wednesday, January 22 at 7 p.m.
The Super Bowl is much more than a football game. It is the only sports event that impacts every community in the United States. The Super Bowl rose out of the civil rights movement, specifically the African American boycott of the AFL All Star Game in New Orleans. Evan Weiner will take us on a journey starting with the birth of the Super Bowl, including the halftime shows and how the famed football game got its name.
This program is free and open to all members of the general public.
