Springfield at Work & Play

1st Annual Photography Contest

win prizes • exhibit your work • become a part of Springfield history

The First Annual Photography Contest is co-sponsored by the Springfield Free Public Library and Mack Camera.

 Who should enter?:  Amateur photographers of all ages are invited to enter 1 or 2 photographs that conforms to the guidelines and theme of the contest.
What are the guidelines?:  Each contestant may enter up to two (2) 8x10 or 11x14 FRAMED photographs.  Frames should be basic black and may be dropped off at the library during regular library hours or mailed to the Springfield Public Library at 66 Mountain Avenue, Springfield, NJ 07081.  Photographs must also be submitted on a CD as a tiff file.  Contestants may obtain one (1) free print from Mack Camera for each entry using coupon on the back of the entry form.
What is the theme?: The theme is "Springfield at Work & Play".  The contest offest photographers the chance to contribute to the building of Springfield's visual archives for future historians and the photographs will be available on the Springfield Library web site and the New Jersey Digital Highway (njdigitalhighway.org) site for future generations.
When is the deadline?: All entires must be received by October 15, 2010.
What will happen after I submit my photo(s)?: Entries will be judged by a panel and winners will be selected in several categories.  All framed entries will be hung in the Donald B. Palmer Museum from November 15th through December 28th.  Photographs will also be shown on the Library website.  Winners will be announced at a reception to be held on Sunday, November 21st at 2:00 p.m.
What will happen to my photograph(s) after the exhibit?:  Framed photograph(s) will be returned to contestants but digital images will be retained for inclusion in the library's permanent Springfield digital photography collection and may be made available on the library web page or at njdigitalhighway.org.
