The Friends of the Library was organized in 1967 to serve as a link between the library and the community. The Friends enhance the services the library provides to the public by underwriting special children’s programs, buying selected sets of reference books and upgrading certain equipment for staff members, among other projects. Membership dues provide much of the treasury, but the annual Fall book and jewelry sale and Spring plant sale are also important fundraisers. Many members help out at the sales by sorting and selling items. The Friends also maintain an ongoing sale of donated used paperbacks and magazines in the lobby of the library.
